‘Honeyspider’ Wins Best Horror Film At Mad Monster Party
Filmed in and around Hillsborough, North Carolina, the Halloween themed independent movie Honeyspider was awarded the top prize of “Best Horror” at the Mad Monster Party Film Festival this past weekend in Charlotte.
The 4th Annual Mad Monster Party horror and pop culture convention returned to Charlotte, North Carolina March 27-29 with another killer lineup of genre favorites, including Batman and Robin icons Adam West and Burt Ward, as well as Tobin Bell (Saw), Danny Trejo (Machete), Gunnar Hansen (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), and many more.
A screening of Honeyspider, a very creepy throwback horror film set on Halloween in 1989, took place on Saturday night, attended by many of the celebrity guests in attendance, including Hollywood legend Dick Warlock, who played the masked killer Michael Myers in another scary holiday classic, John Carpenter’s 1978 Halloween.
Following the screening and the conclusion of the Mad Monster Party Film Festival, Honeyspider was announced as the winner of the “Best Horror Film” award.
Honeyspider writer Kenny Caperton (pictured above) was at the event to accept the award on behalf of the entire team that made the film, many of whom were also at the screening on Saturday night.
Yesterday, Caperton posted on the film’s official Facebook page: “I had such a great time this past weekend representing HONEYSPIDER at the Mad Monster Party horror convention in Charlotte, North Carolina! Congratulations to the cast and crew for helping us take home the award for “Best Horror” film at the Mad Monster Film Festival! Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the screening on Saturday night. It was such a fun show!! We met so many supporters and other people who were really excited to see the film. Even horror icon Dick Warlock (Michael Myers from Halloween II) and his wife showed up to watch the movie! Thank you again for making it a night to remember.“
