‘Tammy’ Cast Comments on NC Film Incentives
Filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy Tammy, written and directed by McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, hits theaters this week, but it would not have been made in North Carolina if not for the state’s film incentive program, which has recently been all but gutted completely by this month’s political decisions in Raleigh.
Former Wilmington TV reporter Michelle Li, who has a cameo and you can see in the trailer for Tammy, recently caught up with McCarthy and some of her castmates to get their thoughts on the NC film incentives issue, which you can watch in the player below, and then please share!
The all-star cast also includes Susan Sarandon (Thelma and Louise), Dan Akroyd (Ghostbusters), Kathy Bates (American Horror Story), Alison Janney (The West Wing), and Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense).
In the film, after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, a woman (McCarthy) hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother (Sarandon).
Tammy opens in theaters this Wednesday, July 2, 2014.
