NC Secretary of Commerce Says Film Incentives Will Return!
North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Sharon Decker says that the state’s film incentives will be expanded, at least in some form, beyond the current sunset at the end of this year, with plans to have legislation ready for the upcoming short session of the General Assembly, in hopes that there will be no gap in the incentive program, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
Decker spoke at the North Carolina Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Charlotte this morning, where she said she is “encouraged and optimistic” about ongoing film industry discussions regarding the state’s tax credit, which is currently set to expire on January 1, 2015, unless the sunset is extended or eliminated.
“It’s an issue that is great concern to us because the film industry is very important to North Carolina,” Decker said. “It is an industry that has impacted both our cities and our small communities.”
