Full Trailer For HBO’s ‘Mary and Martha’ Revealed
Filmed partly in Southport and Wilmington, North Carolina in July 2012, HBO Films’ Mary and Martha will premiere on the network in April, and we finally have our first real look at the film in two new trailers released earlier this week.
You can watch the second official teaser and the full trailer below, and then let us hear what you think in the comments!
Mary and Martha stars two-time Best Actress Academy Award winner Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry, Million Dollar Baby) and Brenda Blethyn (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement) as two women who bond while fighting malaria, along with James Woods (Videodrome, Vampires).
Directed by Phillip Noyce (Salt), the HBO production also filmed on location in Africa.
According to the official synopsis, the film is an epic journey of two mothers, who despite the loss of their own sons, find a way to make a difference one child at a time. With little in common, these two women – one American and the other British – meet in Africa and bond over their personal loss while struggling with their grief and strains on their marriages. Forging a deep friendship, they realize that as mothers they have a responsibility to all the world’s children and dedicate themselves to the cause of malaria prevention. They begin to rebuild their lives and, in the process, show how ordinary people can make a difference and inspire positive change.
James Woods (HBO’s Too Big To Fail), Frank Grillo (End of Watch), Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and Lux Haney-Jardine (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) also star.
Mary and Martha will premiere on HBO on Saturday, April 20.
