Lifetime Picks Up NC-Filmed ‘Witches of East End’

On the strength of the pilot episode filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, Lifetime announced today it has picked up the new supernatural series Witches of East End, starring Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Julia Ormond.

EW reports tonight that the Lifetime Network has ordered 10 episodes and plans to launch the series later this year.

Witches of East End is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s best-selling novel of the same.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Step Up, American Horror Story: Asylum) plays Freya Beauchamp, described as a sexy and fearless former wild child who is suprised to learn that she and her sister Ingrid, played by In Plain Sight‘s Rachel Boston, are their family’s newest generation of witches.

Julia Ormond (Legends of the Fall, Sabrina) plays Joanna, the mother witch, and Patrick Heusinger (Gossip Girl) will play Dewan-Tatum’s rich philanthropist fiance.

Former Twin Peaks star Madchen Amick (Priest, Sleepwalkers) plays Ormand’s sister, Wendy, a witch who takes the form of a cat, and Glenne Headly (Dick Tracy, Mr. Holland’s Opus) will play Dash and Killian Gardiner’s (Daniel
Ditomasso) mother, Penelope.

The pilot episode is scheduled to film in Wilmington.
