Britt Robertson Coming Home to NC to Go ‘Under the Dome’
Set to begin filming in Wilmington, North Carolina in February, the upcoming CBS adaptation of the Stephen King novel Under the Dome, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, has added Charlotte, NC native Britt Robertson (CW’s Secret Circle, Scream 4, Dan in Real Life) to its growing list of cast members.
It was announced on Friday, via Deadline, that Robertson will play “Angie, an attractive young waitress and aspiring nurse who’s always dreamed of escaping the town of Chester’s Mill”.
The 13-episode serialized drama based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel, about a small town that is unexpectedly sealed off from rest of the world by a giant transparent dome, will be produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, premiering on Monday, June 24 at 10pm on CBS.
Production on the series begins in February in Wilmington, NC, at EUE/Screen Gems Studios, where much of Iron Man 3 was also filmed in 2012.
Niels Arden Oplev, the Swedish director of the original The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, will direct the pilot episode, while Brian K. Vaughan (Lost) will serve as showrunner with both King and Spielberg along as executive producers.
Colin Ford (We Bought a Zoo) is the first cast member announced. He will play Joe, “a teenager living in Chester’s Mill, a very smart kid who’s understandably freaked out when he discovers that the mysterious barrier covers the whole town — and both his parents are outside of it.”
Expect to see the first teaser trailer for Under the Dome to air on CBS during the network’s coverage of the Super Bowl this Sunday, Feb. 3.
