Wet and Wild ‘Piranha 3DD’ Swims Home on DVD
Filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2011, Dimension Fims’ bloody sequel Piranha 3DD arrives on Blu-ray and DVD this week, via Anchor Bay Entertainment.
You can check out two official trailers for the horror comedy below, as well as the full list of special features included in the Blu-ray combo pack and DVD!
The sequel to 2010′s Piranha (which itself was a remake of the 1978 cult classic) was actually shot in 3D rather than converted in post production, and as such, a 3-D formatted Blu-ray is one of three discs included in the 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, which also includes a 2D Blu-ray, standard definition DVD, and digital copy of the film.
Additional special features inside both the 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack and the standard definition DVD include an audio commentary with the filmmakers; deleted scenes; the featurettes “The Story Behind the DD”, “The Hofftastic World of David Hasselhoff”, “Busey’s Bloopers”, and “Wet and Wild with David Koechner”; as well as “A Lesson with John McEnroe – A Dimension Short Film.”
Filming was completed in Wilmington more than a year ago, but after numerous release delays by the studio, Piranha 3DD opened in limited theaters and on various video on demand platforms on June 1.
Wilmington’s Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park doubled as the fictional ‘Big Wet Water Park’ that is attacked by some very angry fish in the movie.
The cast of beauties and the bewildered includes Gary Busey (The Buddy Holly Story), David Hasselhoff (as himself), Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th), Katrina Bowden ( NBC’s 30 Rock), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), and Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction), reprising his role from the first film.
Piranha 3DD (rated R) is available on Blu-ray and DVD starting today (Sept. 4).
